Best Instagram DM tools for salons in 2026
Last checked against each vendor's own site on October 30, 2026.
The best Instagram DM tool for a salon depends on where your bookings live. If you're on Fresha, Vagaro or Square Appointments, use CreatorFlow to send your booking link, because we found no AI tool here that books into them yet. For AI that books into Google Calendar, Cal.com or Calendly, use Margo, or ChatPal if you're on Altegio. For AI with its own calendar, use Chatfuel if your clients are also on WhatsApp. For a built-in calendar with replies you write, use Meerlume, which needs the Growth plan and doesn't do comment triggers.
We make Meerlume, a no-code chatbot builder, so read this with that in mind. It's listed first because it's ours, and the numbers aren't a ranking: the other tools follow the order of the picks above. It's the wrong pick for a salon already running on Fresha or Vagaro. Every other entry comes from that vendor's own site. We leave other vendors' prices out because they change often, so check the pricing page before you choose.

The 8 tools in detail
1. Meerlume
That's usSalons and barbers with no booking system yet that want clients to book in the DM on a built-in calendar. Instagram needs the Growth plan.
- Builds the whole bot from a plain-language description of your salon, or from a photo or PDF of your price list.
- Clients pick a service, a stylist and a free time in the DM, and each stylist has their own calendar.
- Clients reschedule or cancel in the chat, and you can set a rescheduling cutoff and a late-cancellation warning.
- A deposit step that sends a Stripe Checkout link from your own account.
- Connects a professional account with Instagram login, with no linked Facebook Page.
- An inbox where you take over any conversation within Instagram's 24-hour window, and the same bot on WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger and your website.
Skip it if: You want Instagram on a free or low-cost plan, since it starts on Growth. You already run the salon on Fresha, Vagaro or similar. Meerlume doesn't sync with them, or with Google Calendar yet, so you'd keep two diaries. On Instagram a reminder goes out in the chat only inside the 24-hour window, then by email if the client gave an address, otherwise not at all. Also skip it if you want comment triggers, broadcasts or AI that writes replies, since the bot only sends the messages in your flow. There's no "anyone available" option, so clients pick a named stylist. One calendar takes one booking at a time, so group classes don't fit, and there are no recurring bookings. It's one login with no seats. Calendars are per bot and each bot speaks one language, so a two-language salon can double-book a stylist.
2. CreatorFlow
Salons already on Fresha, Vagaro or Square Appointments that want Instagram to send people to their booking page.
- Comment to DM on reels and posts, and DMs from story replies, with your booking link in the message.
- Automatic DMs for story replies and keywords.
- Works with any scheduler that gives you a shareable link, including Fresha, Vagaro, Square Appointments, Calendly and Acuity.
- Connects through Meta's official login.
Skip it if: You want the booking to happen in the DM, or answers to questions. It delivers the link, and your scheduler handles availability, deposits and confirmations. It's built around keywords and we found no AI replies on the pages we read, so a client who writes in their own words may get nothing. Its homepage speaks to creators, coaches and shops, and automations pause at the plan's monthly DM limit.
3. Margo
Hair salons, barbers and lash or brow studios that keep a calendar online and want AI to answer and book on Instagram.
- Drafts your services, prices and FAQ from your profile, bio and website for you to review.
- Clients tap a service and a time in the DM, with no link or form, and it only offers times your calendar has open.
- Reminders the day before and two hours before, with one tap to reschedule.
- Comment replies that continue in the DM. Its Google Reviews connector is marked as coming soon.
- Broadcasts and lead export, from its Pro plan.
Skip it if: Your diary lives in Fresha, Vagaro or Square Appointments, which it marks as coming soon. Today it books into Google Calendar, Cal.com or Calendly. Skip it too if you want a bot that only says what you wrote, since its AI writes the replies. It only covers Instagram, its connector list shows deposits with Dodo Payments marked as coming soon, so ask which provider works today, and its site says Instagram access is still rolling out account by account.
4. Chatfuel
Beauty businesses that want AI to book on a calendar of its own, and whose clients also use WhatsApp.
- A built-in calendar with services, durations and each specialist's hours, included in every plan.
- An AI agent that offers open slots and books in Instagram DMs, story replies and comments.
- A template that turns story replies into appointments for last-minute gaps.
- Sends a payment link in the chat.
- Google Calendar events block times in Chatfuel, though its bookings don't show in Google Calendar.
Skip it if: Your clients are on Instagram only. Confirmations and reminders go out on WhatsApp, and its booking page says clients who don't use WhatsApp get neither. It also lists a free trial and no free plan, and AI replies use credits, so the cost rises with use.
5. ChatPal
Salons on Altegio or Google Calendar that want AI answering from their price list on several channels.
- Answers DMs from your own price list and names clinics, salons and studios as its audience.
- Offers free times as buttons and takes the booking in the DM, into Altegio, Google Calendar or Calendly.
- Appointment reminders, and booking works on the free plan too.
- All channels on every plan: WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram and website chat.
- Passes a conversation to your team in Zendesk or your inbox when it needs a person.
Skip it if: You're on Fresha, Booksy, Vagaro or Treatwell, because its own salon page says it doesn't book into them. It doesn't reply to comments or answer story mentions, it needs Instagram linked to a Facebook Page, and we found no payments on the pages we read. At the monthly message limit the assistant stops replying until you upgrade or the month resets.
6. DMly
Busy salons with a team that want comments, DMs, bookings and payments in one inbox across many channels.
- Comment to DM on posts and reels, with a booking link for each service.
- An AI assistant on Instagram that answers questions and books from the salon's diary.
- Bookings, invoices and payments on every plan, with Stripe and PayPal among its integrations.
- Connects with Instagram login, so no Facebook Page is required.
- Team seats on every plan, with more as an add-on.
Skip it if: You want every booking finished in the DM without checking first. Its salon guide says tappable times are for free services and paid services go through the booking page, while its Instagram page says clients pay a deposit without leaving the DM, so ask which applies. It's a broad platform across WhatsApp, Instagram and more, so a solo stylist may use little of it. There's a 7-day trial and no free plan, and AI replies have a monthly limit.
7. Softalon
Salons that want to replace their booking software as well as automate their DMs.
- All-in-one salon software: calendar, client records, payments, reminders and an AI assistant.
- The AI assistant answers on Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, shares open times and books into the calendar.
- A booking website for your bio link and a widget for your own site.
- Team and location limits by plan, for salons with more than one stylist.
- Stripe, PayPal and Square integrations, with no per-booking commission.
Skip it if: You're happy with your booking system, since this replaces it instead of connecting to it, as far as we could find. The AI assistant isn't on its Starter plan, only from Accelerate. We found no comment triggers and couldn't confirm a free trial on the pages we read, so ask before you move your diary.
8. LeadResponse
Salons and other appointment businesses that want AI to work Instagram leads and like paying by the lead.
- AI replies to Instagram DMs and turns them into appointments.
- Comment-to-DM on posts and Reels, plus DM keyword triggers.
- Connects to Calendly and Google Calendar, and either sends a booking link or schedules directly.
- Billed per lead rather than per message.
Skip it if: You want one system for the diary and the DMs. It connects to Calendly or Google Calendar, and its own salon guide says it isn't a booking or payments system. We found no reminders on its homepage or salon page, it only covers Instagram, and a busy month of enquiries raises the bill because you pay per lead. There's a 3-day trial and no free plan.
How we compared them
We started from the tools that AI assistants and web search named for salon bookings in Instagram DMs in October 2026, then kept the ones whose own pages show they can take a booking or an enquiry in a DM. Tools built for general creators or large support teams are in our wider Instagram DM comparison, except CreatorFlow, which we kept because it has a salon guide and names Fresha, Vagaro and Square Appointments. For each vendor we read the homepage plus its pricing, booking or salon pages where it had them. We didn't read every page, and we didn't sign up and test each tool.
ManyChat is the best-known Instagram DM tool. We left it out of the eight because its site blocked our automated check for this page, so we couldn't confirm how it fits a salon. “Not listed” and “we found no” mean we couldn't find it on the pages we read, not that it can't be done.

Frequently asked questions
- Can an Instagram DM bot book into Fresha, Vagaro or Square?
- Not directly, among the tools we read. Margo marks Square Appointments, Vagaro and Fresha as coming soon, and ChatPal says it doesn't book into Fresha, Booksy, Vagaro or Treatwell. What works today is sending your booking link in the DM, which CreatorFlow does from comments, story replies and keywords. Your booking page then handles availability and deposits.
- Why isn't ManyChat on this list?
- Its site blocked our automated check for this page, so we couldn't confirm how it fits a salon. In our wider Instagram DM comparison we found no booking calendar, so for a salon it works closest to CreatorFlow: a way to send your booking link.
- Does a salon need a DM bot at all?
- Not always. If most DMs ask for your link and you already have a booking page, a tool that sends the link is enough. A bot that books in the chat earns its place when people ask about prices and times before they commit, or when you have no booking system yet.
- Can clients choose their stylist in the DM?
- On some tools. Meerlume gives each stylist a calendar and the client picks one, with no "anyone available" option. Chatfuel keeps hours per specialist, and Softalon's calendar manages a team. Margo and LeadResponse depend on the calendars you connect, so check how yours is set up.
- How do these tools avoid double bookings?
- They need live availability. Meerlume takes one booking per time on each calendar, and a request waiting for your approval holds its slot too. Margo says it only offers times your calendar has open, and Softalon says its calendar prevents double bookings. If you keep a paper diary or a second system next to any of them, you can still clash, so keep one source of truth.
- Do booking reminders reach clients on Instagram?
- Only in part. Automated Instagram messages are limited to 24 hours after the client's last message, so a booking made a week ahead needs another route. Meerlume sends the reminder in the chat if that window is open, then by email if the client gave an address, otherwise not at all. Margo lists reminders the day before and two hours before, and its own guide says to collect an email because Instagram blocks them once the window shuts. DMly's salon page suggests collecting a WhatsApp number, and Chatfuel sends reminders on WhatsApp. Ask for an email or a number during the booking if reminders matter to you.
- Can clients pay a deposit in the DM?
- Usually through a link. Meerlume sends a Stripe Checkout link from your own account on the Growth plan and up, but the booking comes first, so on an auto-confirm bot an unpaid booking stands until you cancel it. Chatfuel sends a payment link. DMly's salon guide sends paid services to its booking page, though its Instagram page describes paying a deposit in the DM. Margo lists deposits, so ask which provider works today. Softalon's homepage says its AI collects the deposit, but its pricing page doesn't mention deposits, so ask which plan includes it.
- Which of these tools reply to comments?
- Margo, Chatfuel, DMly, LeadResponse and CreatorFlow all work from comments. ChatPal says it doesn't. Meerlume doesn't either: it answers once someone sends a DM. We found no comment triggers on Softalon.
- Does a salon need a Facebook Page?
- It depends on the tool. Meerlume and DMly connect with Instagram login, with no Facebook Page, and ChatPal needs the account linked to one. Meerlume, Margo, DMly, ChatPal and CreatorFlow all need a professional account, meaning Business or Creator.
- What does Meerlume cost for a salon on Instagram?
- Instagram starts on the Growth plan at $49 a month, which also includes staff calendars and deposits. Free covers Telegram and website chat, and Starter at $19 a month adds WhatsApp. You can build a bot on Free and test it in the live preview with one calendar before you pay, and Growth has a 7-day free trial on monthly billing.
