Your bot understands what customers type
Your bot understands what customers type
A bot now works out what a typed message meant: a request for a person, a choice in the customer's own words, or a booking in one sentence.
The bot works out what a typed message meant
When a customer types something the current step of a Meerlume bot can't use, an AI model now reads the message and the bot acts on what they meant. If they want a person, it hands the chat to you. If they described one of its options in their own words, such as “need my roots done” at a list with Colour on it, it goes on as if they had tapped it. If they asked something your bot already answers, such as parking, it sends that answer from your flow and asks its question again.
This works on all channels, and the inbox shows both what the customer typed and what it was taken as. The model only reads: every reply still comes from the flow you published.
A booking typed in one sentence
While booking with a Meerlume bot, a customer can now type “tomorrow at 3 with Ana” instead of tapping through each list. The bot fills the service, staff, day and time steps it can, provided each is on offer in your calendar, and sends one line with what it understood before carrying on.
Typed at the list of times, “afternoon” or “after 5” moves it to that part of the day. Only free times are ever taken, and the bot still asks its last question before anything is booked.
What is sent to the model, and the switch to turn it off
Only a typed message the step can't use is sent, together with the bot's name and description, its question as the customer saw it, its options and the answers already in your flow, and on a booking bot the current date and time and the day already chosen. Taps on buttons, messages a step accepts and messages over 300 characters are not. The request goes through OpenRouter to a provider that does not keep it or train on it, and the Privacy Policy has the full list.
It is on for every Meerlume bot. To turn it off for one, open the bot's settings in the dashboard and switch off Typed messages; that bot's customer messages then go to no AI model.
Try it in the builder's preview
The preview in the Meerlume builder now lets you type at a menu or a list, and reads a question, a described option or a booking sentence the same way a live bot does. Save the bot first, then type one to see what your customers will get.
The website chat's privacy notice moved to the Website chat tab
The line Meerlume website chat shows visitors, naming your business with a link to your privacy policy, is now set in the bot's Website chat tab under Privacy notice. The tab shows the line as visitors will see it.
