Booking bot for nail & beauty salons
"Can you do this set on Saturday?" tends to arrive while you are mid-application. The bot answers the DM with your treatments and free times, takes the reference photo, and books the client in.
Quick answer
Updated
A nail and beauty salon booking bot lets clients choose a treatment, a technician and a free time in an Instagram DM, on WhatsApp or in your website chat, and send a reference photo for nail art. Meerlume builds it from a description of your salon. Instagram, a calendar for each technician and deposits need Growth at $49 a month. WhatsApp starts on Starter at $19, and website chat with one calendar is free. It books one treatment at a time and does not sync with salon software.
What a nail and beauty booking bot does
A client sends a DM, picks a treatment and a technician, and sees times long enough for that treatment. A gel manicure, an acrylic full set and a lash lift each have their own length and clean-down buffer, so a two-hour set is never offered a 45-minute gap.
The chat collects what you would otherwise chase by message: a reference photo for nail art, whether the client has had a patch test, and an email address for the reminder. The photo appears in the conversation in your inbox, ready to look at before the appointment.
Clients move or cancel in the same chat, and you set how close to the appointment a booking can still be moved. A client can always cancel, but a cancellation inside your late window warns them first and is flagged to you.

What the bot does not do
Salon work has a few habits the bot can't follow. Set your services up around them.
One treatment per booking
Each booking is one service with one technician. A client who wants gel and a lash lift makes two bookings. List common pairs, such as a mani and pedi, as a service of their own with the full length.
Add-ons don't add time
A question such as "Nail art?" or "Removal?" doesn't lengthen the appointment. Anything that takes longer needs its own service, such as Gel with removal.
No "anyone available"
Clients pick a named technician. One calendar takes one booking at a time, and a request waiting for your approval holds its time too.
One list of services for everyone
An earlier answer can't shorten the list, so a client who taps Nails still sees lashes on it.
No standing appointments
An infill every three weeks is a new booking each time. For a returning client the bot remembers contact details, not their last set or their usual technician.
No patch test checks
It can ask the question and state your rule, then takes the client's word. It can't check a date or stop a tint being booked too soon. It gives no advice on allergies or reactions, and this flow doesn't ask about them, so keep those questions for the appointment.
No messages out of the blue
It can't invite a client back, send an offer or broadcast a free slot, and it doesn't reply to comments. Every conversation starts with the client. On Instagram a reminder goes in the DM only if they wrote in the last 24 hours, otherwise by email if they gave an address, and without one no reminder goes out.
No salon software sync
Meerlume has its own calendar and doesn't sync with salon software, so running both means keeping two calendars. It suits salons that take bookings by DM or phone today.
How it fits a nail or beauty salon
The pieces to set up for a salon.
Treatments and lengths
Gel, BIAB, acrylics, pedicures, lashes and brows, each with its own length, price and clean-down buffer.
A calendar for each technician
Clients can book their regular, and lash treatments can be mapped to the technician who does them. Needs the Growth plan.
Reference photos
A step can ask for a photo and let the client skip it. It takes one file per step, on every plan. The photo shows in the conversation; notifications and exports only say a photo was sent. Files are kept 30 days on Free, and up to a year on a paid plan.
Deposits for long sets
On Growth, ask the builder to take a deposit after the booking, as a fixed amount or a percentage of the service price. A service priced at 0 skips the payment. The bot sends a Stripe Checkout link once the time is held. See the FAQ below for what happens to unpaid bookings.
Reminders and late cancellations
A reminder 2 hours to 2 days before a confirmed appointment, with a way to cancel and, where your rules allow, reschedule. A booking made after the reminder time doesn't get one. Cancelling can't be blocked, but a late cancellation is flagged to you.
Link in bio and QR code
Every published bot gets a short link for your bio and a printable QR code for the desk, and a booking page for the Book button on Google or Apple Maps.
Why Instagram
Nail and beauty work sells through photos, so the question often starts as a DM about a set you posted. The bot answers there with a free time. Instagram only lets a business message someone within 24 hours of their last message, which is why this flow asks for an email address: it is how the reminder reaches a client who booked further ahead.
Which setup fits your salon
Three common shapes and what each one needs.
Solo nail tech
One calendar is enough. Website chat and Telegram are free, and WhatsApp starts on Starter at $19 a month. Instagram needs Growth at $49, even for one person.
Two or more technicians
A calendar each, on Growth at $49 a month, so two clients can both be booked at 10:00. The description below is written for this setup.
Nails and beauty under one roof
Map each treatment to the people who do it. A treatment room can have a calendar too, but a booking uses one calendar, so give the calendar to the person or the room, not both.
Start from this description
Open in builder starts a draft from this text straight away, and nothing goes live until you publish. Replace everything in square brackets, and change the treatments and lengths to yours. This description uses Instagram and two calendars, which need Growth at $49 a month.
My nail and beauty salon is called [salon name], open Tue-Sat 10am-7pm, with two technicians, [technician 1] and [technician 2]. Keep anything in square brackets exactly as written; I will replace it. Both do: gel manicure (60 min), gel with removal (75 min), BIAB infill (75 min), acrylic full set (120 min), mani and pedi (110 min). Only [technician 2] does: lash lift and tint (60 min), brow lamination (45 min), patch test (10 min). Leave 10 minutes after each appointment. Start with "Hi, this is the booking chat for [salon name]. What would you like?" and three options: Nails, Lashes and brows, Prices. Prices says our prices are at [price list link], then goes back to the options. Lashes and brows first asks "Have you had a patch test with us?" with Yes and No. No says "We need a patch test before your first tint. Please book Patch test first, at least [patch test notice] before your treatment." Nails, and both answers, go on to ask for the service, the person, a date and a time. Then ask for an optional reference photo: "Got a design in mind? Send a photo, or type no." Then ask for their name and their email address for the reminder, then confirm. Never ask about allergies, skin conditions or medical history.
